The Guild is extremely proud to have supported a fantastic local charity, Electric Umbrella, at one of their recent events. The charity is a vibrant, unique co-creation between adults with learning disabilities and music industry professionals. The aim is to challenge the perception of people with learning disabilities by empowering and enriching lives through music.
They run a diverse programme of events and provide a range of opportunities for everyone to demonstrate their ability – working together to create, experience and perform music through regular workshops, performances in studios, theatres, festivals, public houses, live radio and everything in between.
From supporting the local cricket team and sponsoring Wealdstone Football Club to our ongoing support of the Construction Charity The Lighthouse Club, The Guild is a keen champion of charities and our local community. Inspired by all the volunteers who make these various organizations tick, we are happy to play whatever part we can in supporting the community.
At the recent Electric Umbrella quiz night, we not only sponsored the event but also entered a team. Commenting on the evening, Jerome O’Shea of The Guild said: The whole evening was fantastic, from the tapas to the quiz and everyone who attended had a great time. A personal highlight was the superb auction, which was fantastically well presented – a great memory. I am looking forward to attending further events in the future.”
Mel Boda, MD of Electric Umbrella said: “We have 60 members that we work with each week and we reach thousands of people every year through gigs and events. Our aim is to challenge people’s perception of learning difficulties; we cannot do it without donation and support. Big or small, we value the help of everyone. We welcome The Guild to the Electric Umbrella community and value their support now and in the future.”
Derek Reynolds, MD of The Guild, stated: “I have been very interested to see the progress of Electric Umbrella and the great work they are doing and we will definitely be supporting them in the future.”
