In the Spotlight: Lizzie Dorkings
Your journey at The Guild is one of success. You started as office junior and have progressed throughseveral departments - tell us about that journey.
When I joined The Guild several years ago, it was my first job and I thought it would be short term. However, I quickly found this was a great place to work and there was plenty of room for development. Through first class training and some hard work, I’ve grown both personally and professionally. Getting the chance to work in customer services, compliance and now in the payments processing team has taught me that everything that happens at The Guild impacts the important work we do.
How important is teamwork in making The Guild tick?
Extremely! As I’ve already said I have worked in departments across The Guild and we all support each other. Our clients always provide feedback that staff will go the extra mile to get the answers they need. The Guild has evolved a lot since I joined but our core values of teamwork and hard work haven’t wavered.
The Guild is well known for “leading the way in CIS compliance” - how important is this?
I genuinely believe that, because we focus solely on the construction industry, we offer a unique and tailored service. The Guild’s experience, specialisation, and devotion to compliance is unique and creates a safe harbour for clients. The clients I deal with know that they are in safe hands.
What does a successful week look like at the Guild?
For me, a successful week is getting answers and resolutions to every query I’ve faced. I like to go home on a Friday feeling like I have achieved all of my goals for the week. Having spent time in customer services, I am always keen to go above and beyond to help out clients and my colleagues alike.
What do you like to do in you spare time?
I do my upmost to go to the gym at least twice a week (I try!). When not at the gym, I am out spending time socialising with friends and am often found in one of London’s many cocktail bars. I also enjoy travelling, visiting new places and learning about different cultures. One of my more unique interests is I love to watch scary films.
